Dark Calling-Book Report 2 Part 2

The biggest decision he has to make in the book happens after he finds out the beggining of the universe. To explain what happens so whoever reads this is not confused, Kernal's power is that he can see lights that no one else can see. This sounds pointless at first, but he eventually finds out he can link the lights together to make portals to different universe(s). These universes belong to demons who want to kill every form of life in our universe. So he basicly battles them all along with other people with powers. The Original beings (who were the first alien race to exist in our universe) want to show him how the universe started.

Unfortunately, I can't describe how the universe was made because it would take over a 1,000 words. So after he finds out, he realizes along with the Original beings that the demons will destroy everything in their path, so they propose that because of his power he could select 2 of every alien race and put them on a planet. Each of the aliens he chose would have to have powers to attack the demons in case they did come without them noticing. But the plan was whenever the demons would come, he could build a portal for the planet and go safely to the other side of space to avoid them. So he basicly would be like Noah from the bible. This plan was considered the only way to insure life could live.

Kernal decides even though the earth is supposedely screwed, he will try to fight with his allies and try to kill all the demons. So even if they do fail he could just build a portal and go back to his "ark". Unfortunately, they do fail, and in a vision he saw, one of their allies ended up betraying them. So after he goes back to his hideout he tells his friends he wants to go back. But the leader of the group says no, and claws out his eyes, stopping him from building a portal. So Kernal realizes that mankind is doomed, and the lifeforms he was supposed to protect will die.

If I were Kernal, I would have done the exact same thing. Even if the earth was screwed, I'd still try to fight and save it. I think his plan was smart and stupid. It was a bad one, because he knew from the start that the demons would conquer earth. I think he still tried to save it because it's almost impossible to except the fact that your home planet, and everyone you know is going to die, and you can't do a thing about it. Another reason he might have tried is because there is always a slim chance against the odds, so at least he tried. That's why I think it was kind of smart. I think it was stupid of him to do this because now all the other alien races are going to die. Instead of telling everyone he was going to his "ark", I would have just left. But either way, his plan failed him and the ending of the book was sad.

Dark Calling-Book Report 2 Part 1

The main character's name is Kernal, (which is his nickname, his real name is Cornelios.) Kernal is like me, because when something happens, he thinks about the outcomes of what will happen, goes with it, and sees where it takes him. He takes time to think the plan over very carefully and tries to see the positives and negatives. Kernal's personality is like mine, because he is very sarcastic. He basicly doesn't care much about anything that doesn't matter to him, and he wouldn't do it unless he was forced to.

Kernal has to make a lot of important decisions in the book (most of them decide the fate of the world, and all the other worlds.) I'm not like him, because my decisions aren't that important, the most important decision I have to make, is whether to do my homework now or tommorrow. Because time passes at different rates in other universes, he's about 60 years old, (though he looks 17) and I'm 14 years old. Kernal is not like me because he is black, and I'm asian (no offense to anyone.) He had to leave his family because it turns out he had demonic powers, and the closest thing I have to a power is that I can run fast. He battles demons along with other people with powers, and I battle math homework, my sister, and zits. He can open portals to other universes, and the closest thing I can do to that is open a door. So his life is very different compared to mine.

So Kernal is basicly a lot like me in personality, but super different when it comes to his daily life. I think it would be cool to live his life (for about a week) just to see what its like to battle demons and save the world, and he'd probably want to live mine to see what it's like to be normal. In my opinion the main character in my book was very interesting.

It was a nice warm summer morning in June, and all my friends and I met up at Nick's house. We were going for a bike ride early in the morning. We went around the neighborhood and had bike races with each other. After that, we played dodge ball tag in Tony's huge yard, we'd usually chase each other around the house a few times until we got bored. Later we went to Zach's house and helped his mom with some chores, she paid us all $20. Then, she took us to Volcano Fall's (which is like a small amusement park), where we did mini golfing, go-carting, laser-tag, and the arcade room. It was really fun. We decided to relax after that and go to Seth's house and play HALO, Call Of Duty, and Gears Of War on his XBox 360. Later, we had an air-soft gun fight by the condos. I liked using machine guns, because that's what gun I did best with. I preferred either an Oozy, or an AK-47. Afterward, we went night swimming in Tony's pool, the pool water was cool, and it felt like a nice cool breeze hitting you after a hot day. It was like swimming in air. Finally, I slept over at Tony's house with Nick, and obviosly Tony. We stayed up all night watching T.V. and joking around. It was a very fun summer day.
