Wow

So for some reason, I randomly decided to go on this again after... 2 years. Gees that seems long. Yet it only feels like it was just a couple months ago since I was last in Mrs. Clear's class typing stuff up for a report. It's pretty crazy. What's even more crazy, was reading all of my old posts and realizing how much I've changed.

I still like rock music, but now I listen to EVERYTHING. And I enjoy/appreciate all types of music. And now I don't really get into video games. I'm not that sarcastic anymore and now I actually get along with my sister; and I don't have to battle that many zits. Viewing through all of the comments, I feel that I was kind of a jerk back in 8th grade. I wish I could go back and maybe be nicer and less cocky. Hence my comment, "thaks. i know" (Dark Calling-Book Report 2 Part 2). I also realize that back then I was careless, and had very bad spelling. I'm also super religious now. I used to be a bit rebellious against my family, but I guess you could say I changed my life around before it went too far. It actually makes me feel really happy reading through all of this again and realizing I've become a much nicer, mature person.

I enjoyed going through my old blog. I miss the random fish you can play with, and it brings back memories of Josh, Alec and I playing Snake on the sidebar when we should have been working. It's nice to look back at this stuff, but it bugs me because I really wished I had been a better person back then. But I'm not gonna let this bother me too much, and I'm gonna just be content on how I am now. I think I'm gonna tell some people to go back on their blogs and see how much they've changed and such. I might even go back to visit North. I know this has been super random, and if anyone reads this, please comment on what you think about it.

Thanks, Isaac

A Person I Look Up To

One of the people I look up to is Glenn Cunningham. Glenn Cunningham was a great athlete when it came to endurance running. He had a lot of perseverance, and in the mid-1930’s he broke the world record for the 1 mile-run. Its true there are a lot of other faster athletes than him, but the reason I look up to him is because of his story. When Glenn was a young boy, he burnt his legs really bad in an explosion, which almost burnt his legs off. The doctor’s said he was very lucky to survive, but he’d never be able to walk again. His parent’s told the doctor that they didn’t want to amputate his legs off, so they decided to try to let them heal. A few years later, Cunningham started running endurance runs with his friends. He always won. Then, he started running at the state fair, and before to long, his family had an entire shelf that was used to keep his rewards and trophies. During his running career in high school, Cunningham always ran the mile and would get around 4:40-4:30 for his time. He eventually got a scholarship to run in college, and word began to spread about a young promising youth from the University of Kansas. During his college career, Cunningham broke the world record for the indoor mile-run. He held the world record until 1937. During the Olympics in 1936 Cunningham broke the U.S.A.’s outdoor mile record with an amazing time of 3:48.4, but unfortunately he took second place over-all. He eventually retired, but was still known as one of the greatest runners of all time. Glenn Cunningham never gave up; even when he was told he would never walk again. I think his story is very inspiring, and that’s why he is someone I look up to. He never gave up, even when things didn't look so good for him, and he always kept trying to do his best. My favorite characteristic of his, is definitely his perseverance. I always try hard in school and sports, and perseverance helps me to give my all to get good grades. Whenever I'm about to race and I feel nervous, or sick I always think about what he did and it helps my try harder. One of my favorite sayings that matches up to his life is "Try and Fail, But Never Fail to Try."

The Unthinkable Thoughts of Jacob Green-Book report Part 2

Jacob and I are similar in some ways, and different in others. We are the same because we both don't like going to church, and we wish we could just skip it. We are different because Jacob is Jewish, and I am Catholic. If he was a real person, we'd both like the same jokes. We also worry about the same stuff, like school. We are different because Jacob has a reading problem, and he got held back a grade. I'm a straight A- to A student. Are dad's can both be strict about religion sometimes, but we both don't do anything about it. Are races are different, I'm asian, and Jacob is white. We both would like the same movies, and we both have sick humor/jokes. We both are average kids when it comes to life. The only difference is he's an average kid growing up in the 1970's, and I'm an average kid growing up now. So I'm guessing certain popular things are different. For instance, we both like classic rock like Iron Maiden, but to Jacob that's modern rock. And in my time rap and hip-hop is the music genre that is popular. Jacob's parents are divorced, my parents are together. In my opinion, I think his life is more confusing then mine, but he might think opposite, and think my life is more confusing because of the technology and all the honors classes I have. I'm the oldest child in my family, and Jacob isn't. I think when it comes to just an average teenagers thoughts, and interests we are both alike. But when it comes to religion, and family life, we're very different. I think Jacob was a very funny and cool character.

The Unthinkable Thoughts of Jacob Green-Book report Part 1

I thought this book was one of the best books I have ever read. The author who wrote this is Joshua Braff. He did an amazing job writing this. This book was easily one of the top 3 funniest books I have ever read in my life.

The book is about a young teenager named Jacob going through life in the 1970's in America. Jacob's dad is a Jewish man, who is very dedicated to church. Jacob doesn't like going through all of the traditions, but he respects his dad to much to tell him anything. Jacob's dad especially wants Jacob to participate, because Jacob is an amazing singer, and he is very good at reading the Tora. Jacob wishes he was like his older brother Asher, who is a popular rebel who totally disrespects everything having to do with his religion, and does whatever he wants. So Jacob goes through life wondering what to do about it. Through the book a lot of things happen. Jacob's parents get divorced, Jacob goes through school thinking about stuff the average teenager guy thinks about, (sports, classes, girls, etc.) and Jacob starts wondering about sex. Whenever something like this happens, there's always a funny twist.

One of the reason's I liked reading this book is because the author actually thought like an average teenager when he wrote this. A lot of times kids don't like going to church because we think it's boring, but we don't say it to are parents because we respect them to much. (Or we're just scared of them.) Either way, on the inside we usually want to rebel, and say 'Screw this, I have better things to do.' He also added some teenage humor, like when Asher went into Jew school and drew funny inappropriate pictures on the walls. It was almost like the story was like a memoir. I think the book was very good. I think everyone should read this.

Dark Calling-Book Report 2 Part 2

The biggest decision he has to make in the book happens after he finds out the beggining of the universe. To explain what happens so whoever reads this is not confused, Kernal's power is that he can see lights that no one else can see. This sounds pointless at first, but he eventually finds out he can link the lights together to make portals to different universe(s). These universes belong to demons who want to kill every form of life in our universe. So he basicly battles them all along with other people with powers. The Original beings (who were the first alien race to exist in our universe) want to show him how the universe started.

Unfortunately, I can't describe how the universe was made because it would take over a 1,000 words. So after he finds out, he realizes along with the Original beings that the demons will destroy everything in their path, so they propose that because of his power he could select 2 of every alien race and put them on a planet. Each of the aliens he chose would have to have powers to attack the demons in case they did come without them noticing. But the plan was whenever the demons would come, he could build a portal for the planet and go safely to the other side of space to avoid them. So he basicly would be like Noah from the bible. This plan was considered the only way to insure life could live.

Kernal decides even though the earth is supposedely screwed, he will try to fight with his allies and try to kill all the demons. So even if they do fail he could just build a portal and go back to his "ark". Unfortunately, they do fail, and in a vision he saw, one of their allies ended up betraying them. So after he goes back to his hideout he tells his friends he wants to go back. But the leader of the group says no, and claws out his eyes, stopping him from building a portal. So Kernal realizes that mankind is doomed, and the lifeforms he was supposed to protect will die.

If I were Kernal, I would have done the exact same thing. Even if the earth was screwed, I'd still try to fight and save it. I think his plan was smart and stupid. It was a bad one, because he knew from the start that the demons would conquer earth. I think he still tried to save it because it's almost impossible to except the fact that your home planet, and everyone you know is going to die, and you can't do a thing about it. Another reason he might have tried is because there is always a slim chance against the odds, so at least he tried. That's why I think it was kind of smart. I think it was stupid of him to do this because now all the other alien races are going to die. Instead of telling everyone he was going to his "ark", I would have just left. But either way, his plan failed him and the ending of the book was sad.

Dark Calling-Book Report 2 Part 1

The main character's name is Kernal, (which is his nickname, his real name is Cornelios.) Kernal is like me, because when something happens, he thinks about the outcomes of what will happen, goes with it, and sees where it takes him. He takes time to think the plan over very carefully and tries to see the positives and negatives. Kernal's personality is like mine, because he is very sarcastic. He basicly doesn't care much about anything that doesn't matter to him, and he wouldn't do it unless he was forced to.

Kernal has to make a lot of important decisions in the book (most of them decide the fate of the world, and all the other worlds.) I'm not like him, because my decisions aren't that important, the most important decision I have to make, is whether to do my homework now or tommorrow. Because time passes at different rates in other universes, he's about 60 years old, (though he looks 17) and I'm 14 years old. Kernal is not like me because he is black, and I'm asian (no offense to anyone.) He had to leave his family because it turns out he had demonic powers, and the closest thing I have to a power is that I can run fast. He battles demons along with other people with powers, and I battle math homework, my sister, and zits. He can open portals to other universes, and the closest thing I can do to that is open a door. So his life is very different compared to mine.

So Kernal is basicly a lot like me in personality, but super different when it comes to his daily life. I think it would be cool to live his life (for about a week) just to see what its like to battle demons and save the world, and he'd probably want to live mine to see what it's like to be normal. In my opinion the main character in my book was very interesting.
